  7. RDX is a software package designed to control the assembly process on one
  8. robotic station. The program consists of five major modules: Operator Control
  9. Interface, Assembly Database Manager, Closed Loop Servo-axis Control,
  10. Integrated Machine Vision, and Online Help and Diagnostic
  11.  
  12. This program brings a new level of sophistication to factory automation at the
  13. cell level. It is designed to run under the UNIX operating system on an
  14. industry-standard AT computer
  15.  
  16. With RDX control software, all data necessary to complete an assembly is stored
  17. on the cell controller. This minimizes the communications required with a
  18. central line controller. In addition, RDX smart operator interface simplifies
  19. machine setup, and fault clearing
  20.  
  21. One example of its capability is its use on the ATS MicroCenter, a four-axis
  22. machine for high-accuracy assembly of components onto circuit boards. The
  23. MicroCenter uses machine vision to precisely locate the artwork on a circuit
  24. board, and also to locate the leads of each component to be placed. As a
  25. result, the system in capable of placing components to accuracies of less than
  26. 0.0005 inches.
